Meet Anita Elder! Anita is an artist and art teacher with students from all over the United States. She started her first business in downtown Dahlonega, “The Art Loft” and now teaches at her beautiful art studio in Dahlonega. I met with Anita at her studio!
Question: What led you to your current career?
Answer: I was dabbling in arts and crafts and started painting on wood and selling at art festivals and stores in Dahlonega. I then opened the “Art Loft” and was in that location on the square in Dahlonega for twelve years teaching and also teaching from my art studio, The Art Loft, from my home in Dahlonega.
Question: What is your favorite restaurant in Dahlonega?
Answer: My favorite restaurant is Bourbon Street on the square. I love the atmosphere and of course, the food.
Question: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?
Answer: Glacier National Park in Canada. It is an extraordinary place for an artist to visit. I love nature and anyplace that I can bring to life in a painting.
Question: What is your favorite movie or movies?
Answer: The Sound of Music and To Kill A Mockingbird
Question: What are three words or phrases that come to mind when you think of the word home?
Answer: Happy, Food, Closeness
Question: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
Answer: I pretty much put it all out there. I guess it would be how passionate I am about my spirituality.
Question: With whom would you like to have lunch with and where would it be?
Answer: My Grandmother and it would be at her house and she would fix fried okra and cream corn!
Question: What advice would you give to people today?
Answer: Go for your dream. Don’t be intimidated. Jump in and try.
