Bob Pullen

Meet Bob Pullen.  Bob and his wife Deborah moved to Dahlonega from Florida and have been an integral part the Dahlonega community ever since.  Bob headed up Habitat for Humanity for over 5 years and was a County Commissioner until retirement this past year. 

 

Question:  What led you to choose Dahlonega to live?

Answer:     We had friends living in Gainesville and Ellijay and in the late 1990’s began making more trips visiting North Georgia.  Traveling around the area we couldn’t resist the charm and beauty of Dahlonega and Lumpkin County and bought our land in 2000.

 

Question:  What is your favorite restaurant in Dahlonega and what do you love there?

Answer:     For a casual meal we like the wings, pizza and burgers at Johnny B’s.  We save visits to White Oak Bistro for those special occasions.

 

Question:  How long have you lived in Dahlonega?

Answer:    We moved to Dahlonega from Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 2004.

 

Question:  If you could travel anywhere in the world right now where would it be and why?

Answer:    We would like to visit the coastal areas of the Northeastern United States, to observe the great changes between high and low tide, and to take advantage of the availability of lobster for dining.  Do they make a lobster biscuit for breakfast?

 

Question:  What advice would you give to people?

Answer:     Be kind and help others.  Be a good neighbor.  Keep a sense of humor.

 

Question:    What is something on your bucket list?

Answer:       To obtain a Private Pilot’s License.

 

Question:  What are three bands that you would like to see in person (Dead or alive bands)

Answer:     Elvis, the Beach Boys, and Gary Puckett and the Union Gap.

 

Question:  What is something that most people don’t know about you?

Answer:     I was adopted by two wonderful people who I hope look down and say they are proud of me.

 

Question:  What three words describe home to you?

Answer:    Family, Thanksgiving and comfort

 

Question:   What current or former business in Dahlonega makes you most nostalgic?

Answer:     We miss The Oar House restaurant.  It seemed to capture the charm and atmosphere of our city and county.

 

Question:  What best describes Dahlonega to you?

Answer:  Small town charm, history and a sense of community.

 

Question:  What is a favorite book that you have read?

Answer:   Tom Clancy’s The Hunt for Red October
