Meet Ricky Figuaro. Ricky is a somewhat new resident to Dahlonega and to Georgia. Ricky is a native of Puerto Rico and his new bride, Patricia is from Czechoslovakia . Ricky is a Digital Marketer, Blogger and Social Media Marketer and specializes in Websites and Blogging.
Question: How long have you lived or worked in Dahlonega?
Answer: About two years. I moved to Dahlonega after the hurricane in Puerto Rico. A friend of mine lived in Dahlonega and assisted me in getting out of Puerto Rico in the aftermath of chaos. As it turned out, I moved to Dahlonega and quite frankly, I had never been to Georgia! Dahlonega is a great place to live and grow your business, although so much of my business is “on-line”.
Question: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
Answer: Hawaii. I believe it would make my wife very happy. Also, Hawaii reminds me a lot of Puerto Rico which is where I grew up and the Island I spent most of my days surfing, which is something I miss and love to do (it was my way of connecting with nature).
Question: What is your favorite movie OR what is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
Answer: This is a hard one, but if I had to pick one (or two) I’d say: The Last Samurai and Men of Honor. Both are extremely inspiring films around values I believe are almost extinct nowadays: HONOR and SELF MASTERY.
Question: What advice would you give to people?
Answer: The same advice I try to remind myself of every single day: “Live a life true to yourself. Not the life others expect of you”. In order to do that, you must not lie to yourself and you must be strong enough to endure external (and internal) judgments, opinions and expectations that keep you away from your peace. The best thing someone ever told me: “Anything that costs you your peace is too expensive.”
Question: What is something on your bucket list?
Answer: Swimming with dolphins with my wife. That would so much FUN.
Question: Who is the most interesting person you have met in Dahlonega?
Answer: That would have to be Anita Wheeler
Question: Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative: with whom would you love to have lunch? And where would you have lunch?
Answer: Garrett J. White, Founder of WakeUpWarrior, author of The Warrior Book and Be The Man. I can relate to the failures and challenges he overcame, and he built a platform and movement that inspires me, tremendously. We would probably go to a lake in Dahlonega to practice some water sport before lunch and then have lunch at one of the wineries and talk about life and business.
Question: Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?
Answer: Living by a beautiful beach with waves in Florida with my wife and kids and making a positive impact in many people’s lives through my work.
Question: What is something interesting that most people (Even friends and family) might not know about you?
Answer: In my days growing up in Puerto Rico, I swam with sharks more often than I’d like to admit.
Question: What 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Answer: Grandmother, Waves and Wind.
