My name’s Jacob Smeltzer. I was born and raised in Dahlonega. I’m a faith based songwriter, I write songs about overcoming addiction through the power of prayer, and also about trusting Jesus Christ through all of your mental battles!
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do (or did if retired)?
I love being able to connect with the youth and relate with them about trauma. I experienced a lot of childhood trauma and I went the wrong way in life because I didn’t process it correctly! Now I want to give people hope for better days through my testimony! Life’s tough but we’re a lot tougher.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in our community and your favorite dish there?
Public House Of Dahlonega! I highly recommend their brunch menu!
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community? And if you moved here, where were you from originally?
I’ve lived in Dahlonega my whole life. It’s hard to move away from here.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community and why?
I met a retired Governor from here while doing some work on his property! He owns one of the oldest houses in Dahlonega and had so many war stories he told me!
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
If I could travel anywhere I’d have to pick Israel! I’d like to see the places they speak about in the Bible.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies or TV shows?
Currently I’m having a lot of laughs watching the show Young Sheldon! I like anything wholesome with some witty comedy.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Trust Jesus with all of your problems in life! Give everything to him and don’t hold back.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I’d like to travel internationally and give my testimony for Jesus!

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive or not alive today, with whom would you love to have lunch? Why?
Jesus Christ! I’d tell him thank you continuously and bug him with questions!
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
There’s something about Dahlonega. When I was younger I wanted to leave so bad but as I get older I see how peaceful it is!
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I like to write short stories, I love to do motivational speaking, and I love making music.
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
I loved the mountains in Colorado, I loved the hills in Montana, I loved the beaches in FL, and I love the mountains here in Dahlonega! Every place has its own beauty.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
Jesus Christ inspires me to be better without him I’m very lost! I never want to be the person I was without him!
Q: Finally, what words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
There’s gold in them hills, love flows through this house.
