Meet Rhonda Rowland, the owner of Rockhouse Grooming and Boarding in Dahlonega, Ga. Rhonda is the owner of Rockhouse Grooming and Boarding in Dahlonega. I met Rhonda at her store, recently and we sat down to chat for a few minutes about her business and her obvious love of animals!
Q: What inspired you or led you to your current career?
A: Well, I use to work as a driver for FedEx and I really enjoyed it, but a friend of mine who was a commercial pilot who absolutely loved what he did for a living AND he knew how much I loved dogs said “You should own a grooming place, because you are so passionate about animals.” After my friend reminding me several times, I decided to go to grooming school and nine years ago I opened Rockhouse Grooming in Dahlonega and I have never looked back. He was right! I LOVE what I do.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant and what do you love there?
A: I love Grapevine. Great restaurant and I particularly love their spinach/artichoke dip. They are fairly new to Dahlonega and we are thrilled.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met in Dahlonega?
A: That would be my friend Donald Smallwood. He passed away a couple of years ago, but he use to bring his dog to be groomed at my store and he was such a sweet loving person. He made me feel good every time he walked in the door. Some days he would just drop by to say “hello” to everyone at the shop and he always had a wonderful smile and of course, great stories to share.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: Definitely Alaska. I just have a deep appreciation for nature and Alaska is sort of the last frontier for undisturbed beauty and wilderness.
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: I loved the movie “Michael” with John Travolta. It was just so inspiring and funny at the same time.
Q: Would advice would you give people?
A: Life is a gift from God. I think we often forget this gift and our part is to appreciate the gift of life and make something special out of the life we have been given.
Q: What are your three favorite bands of all time? (Dead or Alive)
A: The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Creedence Clearwater Revival.
Q: Someone you would like to have lunch with and why?
A: That would be Donald Trump. I would just like to ask some questions to better understand his thinking process.
Q: What is something most people don’t know about you?
A: I have never met a stranger. I really love people and I know that meeting someone new is going to be a journey and a transformation of some kind!
